The audit encompassed a detailed review of hard controls, including perimeter security, access points, electronic access control systems, CCTV coverage, and internal physical barriers. In parallel, Connley Walker Pty Ltd assessed soft controls such as access authorisation procedures, incident response protocols, staff responsibilities, contractor access policies, and broader security governance measures.

A key component of the engagement was a lighting assessment conducted in accordance with AS/NZS 1158.3.1:2020, the Australian standard for pedestrian lighting. This assessment focused on evaluating the adequacy, placement, and uniformity of lighting throughout key external areas including walkways, car parks, building entries, and training facility surrounds, to ensure compliance and support visibility and safety during both operational and after-hours periods.

The security risk assessment was completed using a structured methodology aligned with AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018, allowing for the identification of site-specific risks and development of proportionate, cost-effective treatment strategies. The assessment was tailored to the nature of the Brisbane Broncos’ operations, accounting for both day-to-day activity and special event conditions.

Connley Walker Pty Ltd conducted a full site inspection to observe existing security measures in practice and to evaluate how access, surveillance, and emergency management are integrated within the facility layout. Special attention was given to areas with public interface, administrative functions, secure storage, and team operations.

Stakeholder consultations were also carried out with operational staff and facilities management to gather insights into site usage, operational requirements, and perceived security concerns. These engagements informed the audit and ensured that all recommendations were grounded in real-world functionality.

Following completion of the engagement, Connley Walker Pty Ltd delivered a formal report outlining the scope of the audit, the assessment process, and structured recommendations to support security improvement planning, regulatory compliance, and long-term risk management at the Brisbane Broncos facilities.
