The security risk assessment was conducted in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 and focused on identifying risks relevant to a large-scale, multi-level hotel operating in a central urban environment. The assessment considered the specific operational characteristics of the site, including guest access, service zones, vehicle movements, high-traffic public areas, and back-of-house functions.

A comprehensive site inspection was undertaken to review physical access control measures, surveillance infrastructure, zoning, staff movement patterns, and emergency egress provisions. The site inspection provided critical insight into how physical and operational security measures were implemented across both public and restricted-use areas.

Connley Walker Pty Ltd also conducted a formal CPTED review, applying key design principles to evaluate how the physical and spatial environment supported security objectives. The review assessed natural surveillance, territorial reinforcement, access control, and environmental maintenance. The CPTED assessment was structured to complement architectural, functional, and aesthetic considerations appropriate to a luxury hotel setting.

Stakeholder consultations were held with design teams and relevant representatives to ensure that all operational requirements and future planning considerations were factored into the assessment. These consultations informed both the security risk assessment and the CPTED review, ensuring that recommendations were both practical and aligned with project goals.

Following the completion of the engagement, Connley Walker Pty Ltd delivered a detailed report outlining the scope of services, applied methodology, and professional recommendations. The report was developed to support compliance with local planning and licensing regulations and to assist Metis in delivering a security strategy that supports guest safety, staff wellbeing, and ongoing operational efficiency at the Intercontinental Hotel Sydney.
