Connley Walker Pty Ltd was engaged to undertake a comprehensive security audit and security risk assessment of the Melbourne Museum. This engagement formed part of a broader strategic review to evaluate the museum’s existing hard and soft security controls and to identify practical, cost-effective strategies for managing security risks in a high-profile public facility.

The audit included a full assessment of the museum’s hard security controls, such as perimeter protection measures, access points, CCTV coverage, intrusion detection systems, and internal barriers associated with collection protection and public safety. Connley Walker Pty Ltd also assessed soft controls, including operational procedures, access governance, emergency management protocols, and staff roles related to security functions.

The security risk assessment was conducted using a structured methodology in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018. This process involved identifying security threats relevant to the museum’s operations, assets, and visitor environment, and evaluating treatment strategies suited to the facility’s public, cultural, and operational profile.
