The scope of the engagement involved a detailed audit of existing physical security controls, procedures, and access arrangements across the facility. The audit reviewed the current security infrastructure, including access control systems, surveillance measures, visitor management processes, and emergency procedures.

Connley Walker Pty Ltd conducted a thorough site inspection of the premises to understand the physical layout, zoning of work areas, and critical asset locations. This inspection was designed to assess the practical application of existing security measures and identify areas requiring further evaluation in the risk assessment.

A key component of the engagement was the facilitation of extensive stakeholder consultation. Connley Walker Pty Ltd engaged with a range of internal stakeholders across various departments to understand operational requirements, security concerns, staff movement patterns, and access needs. These consultations ensured the security review reflected the organisational context and supported a balanced, informed approach to risk management.

The security risk assessment was undertaken in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 31000:2018 and applied a structured methodology to identify and evaluate security threats relevant to a high-profile public agency. The process considered physical, procedural, and human factors, aligned with best practices for protective security in the public sector.

A Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) review was also integrated into the assessment to consider how environmental and spatial factors influenced the security and functionality of the office environment.

Connley Walker Pty Ltd prepared a formal report that documented the security audit and risk assessment process, stakeholder engagement outcomes, and observations from the site inspection. The report was developed to assist the NSW Ombudsman in future planning, compliance management, and implementation of security enhancements aligned with organisational risk and resilience objectives.
