Connley Walker undertook a comprehensive review on behalf of the South Australia Department of Health (DHW) to evaluate the security services within the state’s hospitals and health services. This multifaceted review aimed to provide an in-depth analysis of the current outsourced arrangements, explore the viability of an insourced model, and ultimately recommend the optimal service delivery model. The focus was not only on efficiency and cost-effectiveness but also on ensuring job security and permanency for workers. This collaborative effort involved close coordination with DHW senior officers throughout the review process, culminating in the delivery of a final report that encapsulated a jurisdictional review, business requirements collation, cost assessment, industrial relations and employment conditions review, supply chain impact assessment, risks and opportunities analysis, and a high-level implementation plan.
Connley Walker provided the following security consulting services:
Connley Walker conducted a detailed analysis of the existing outsourced security arrangements in South Australia’s hospital and health services. This phase involved a meticulous examination of the current outsourcing model, assessing its effectiveness, strengths, and weaknesses to provide a comprehensive overview of the existing security landscape.
In addition to reviewing the outsourced arrangements, Connley Walker thoroughly investigated the feasibility of an insourced model of service delivery. This included a comprehensive analysis of costs, methods of delivery, and the potential benefits and challenges associated with bringing security services in-house.
Drawing from the insights gained during the review, Connley Walker provided recommendations for the best model of service delivery. The focus extended beyond mere operational efficiency to consider the security of employment and permanency for workers, aligning with the broader objectives of DHW.
Throughout the review, Connley Walker collaborated closely with DHW senior officers. This collaborative approach ensured that the review process was informed by the unique insights and considerations of key stakeholders within DHW, fostering a tailored and effective evaluation of the security services.
The culmination of the review was the delivery of a comprehensive final report. This document encapsulated a jurisdictional review of security models, collation of business requirements for approximately 70 sites, cost assessment for outsourcing, insourcing, and hybrid models, industrial relations and employment conditions review, supply chain and market impact assessment, risks and opportunities analysis, and a high-level implementation plan. The report also included detailed recommendations on the preferred model of service delivery, providing DHW with a roadmap for optimising security services in South Australia’s hospitals and health services.
This collaborative and thorough engagement with the South Australia Department of Health underscores Connley Walker’s commitment to delivering tailored solutions that address the unique needs and objectives of our clients.
